RANK MI VOTE BEER MIXER | Sat. April 18th @ 3-5:30pm

The night before the Convention, Rank MI Vote is hosting an event at Batch Brewing from 3 to 5:30pm.

Batch Brewing is located at 1400 Porter St, Detroit, MI 48216-1934

This event is an opportunity for attendees of the MDP Convention to connect with like-minded individuals from across the state. Because this event is being held at a local craft brewery, Rank MI Vote will conduct a ranked choice beer election. This election provides a quick, easy, and brief demonstration about how ranked choice voting works. Casual, fun, and educational!


EARLY CREDENTIALING | Sat. April 18th @ 10am - 4pm

Credentialing is the process of proving your MDP membership and receiving a lanyard that will be necessary for voting and full participation at the convention.

NEW This year! You can credential the day before the convention, at Huntington Place. This will allow you to skip the long line the day of! If you are in the area, or know you’ll be busy in the morning, consider credentialling on Saturday.

Once arrived follow the signage to the convention check-in.

EARLY MORNING | 7am - 9am

Credentialing

If you were not credentialed the Saturday before, make sure you get credentialed first thing in the morning. Credentialing opens at 7am, as soon as you arrive, get in line [likely long line] to receive your lanyard. Additionally at this time you will confirm that you have downloaded the Voatz App used for voting,

Candidate Signatures

Likely while waiting in line you will be approached by campaign volunteers carrying clipboards asking for your signature. Each convention candidate needs to accumulate enough signatures by 1:00 pm to secure their place on the convention ballot. You may support as many candidates as you like, but sign for each candidate only once. Keep track by jotting down candidate names as you sign their petitions.

The Progressive Caucus encourages attendees to sign the petition for each of the endorsed candidates.


MORNING | 9am - 12am

Caucus Meetings!

All of the identity and ideology caucus will be meeting in two batches during this time period. Meeting topics may include caucus business, but are mostly going to focus on hearing from convention candidates. During the first batch you can attend any of the following caucus. [Full List TBD]

Progressive Caucus Meeting

The Progressive Caucus meeting will focus on the caucus endorsed candidates, primarily focused on candidates seeking the nomination at the convention. Additional time will be given to Progressive Endorsed candidates running in the August Primary.

EARLY AFTERNOON | 1pm - 2:30pm

Congressional District Party Meetings

Each Congressional District has their own party which will hold meetings in different rooms. At these meetings, your Congressmember or party chair will give remarks, and you will also here from candidates or elected in or around your district.

LATE AFTERNOON | 3pm - close (6/7ish?)

Full Party Meeting!!

At 3pm, all attendees will coalesce in one room for the main event - the elections for the statewide races. This meeting will likely start off with voting to approve rules report, resolutions report, and the election of a convention chair.

Votes to Endorsement Statewide Candidates

Eventually the convention chair will call for nominations for different candidates. Each candidate will be nominated for each race, and then voting will begin on the Voatz app. The races will be done in the following order: Secretary of State (10), Attorney General (1), State Supreme Court (2), State Board of Education (2), Michigan State University Board of Trustees (2), Wayne State University Board of Governors (2), and University of Michigan Board of Regents (2)
